West Downs Newsletter - Worthing Newsletter | | WEST DOWNS NEWSLETTER | | | cpc@sussexnhw.org | West DownsDivisional H.Q. Centenary House, Durrington Lane Worthing, West Sussex, BN13 2PQ 0845 60 70999 extn 81214 | www.sussexnhw.org | | Worthing edition | March 2008 |
| ALL CHANGE As from the 1st April 2008 the responsibility for Neighbourhood Watch passes from the Crime Prevention Co-ordinators, Ivor Webb and Pam Davey, to the Worthing Police Neighbourhood Specialist Team (NST). The Neighbourhood Watch office at the above address will close. I am retiring and Pam will be re-deployed. The Senior Worthing NST officer is Inspector Howard Hodges and under his command he has two Sergeants, Russ Phillips and Shelley Olsen, who in turn supervise ten Police Constables and twenty-four Community Support Officers. During the past months I have introduced you to your PCSO=92s via this newsletter. They will be the point of contact for Neighbourhood Watch members and will pass on information about crimes and incidents of note and will arrange for =91Ringmaster=92 messages to be sent. They will maintain regular contact with existing Co-ordinators and start up new schemes when necessary. To find out who covers your ward or you wish to make contact with them, enter your postcode on the Sussex Police website at www.sussex.police.uk or ask at your local police station. Each PCSO has a =91blog=92 on the site, where local and other information is posted on a regular basis. A new police =91messaging=92 system is to be installed during the summer of 2008, and in order to ensure that police records are correct, =91data protection forms=92 will be sent to all Co-ordinators for completion during the next few months. In future it seems likely that the main communication between the Police and NW will be by email. If you are a Co-ordinator who does not use the Internet it is essential that you find a member of your scheme, who is on the Internet, and prepared to act as your communication person or =91buddie=92 in computer terms. Hopefully further information will be available soon on the future of the local NW website www.sussexnhw.org and on the continued sale of security products by the Worthing NW Association. | WORTHING NW AGM The Worthing & District NW Association will be holding their fifteenth Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 1st April 2008 at 7.15pm for 7.30pm at St Marys Church Hall, Goring. All members are welcome to attend. The Chief Superintendent and other Police Senior Management on West Downs Division and Worthing District have been invited to attend. Hopefully I will see you at my last AGM FAREWELL AND GOOD LUCK I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as Crime Prevention Co-ordinator for the Worthing area for the past 17 years. I believe a lot has been achieved over those years. The regular monthly newsletters, the delivery system via the Area Co-ordinators, the creation of the Worthing NW Association, Neighbourhood Watch volunteers, the Crime Prevention Bus, =91Datalink=92 or =91Message in a Bottle=92 scheme, the NW Search Team. None of this could have been achieved without your help. I thank you all.
