A bus previously used for driver training was purchased from Stagecoach in Gateshead in 1996 with the help of funds
provided by the Sussex Police Community Crime Prevention Department and, following a great deal of hard work, was converted
into a mobile crime prevention unit.
Over the years the bus has travelled many miles to bring the crime prevention
message to the public and has been seen at a large number of public and private events all over Sussex. It has attended Steam Rallies, Regattas, Air Shows and numerous Fetes over the past few years.

The Bus is regularly manned by Neighbourhood Watch volunteers and the Crime Prevention Co-ordinator or his assistant and
piloted by one of our
volunteer drivers, to whom we offer our special thanks. Without them life would be difficult to say the least.

It is also being used at regular venues in the towns and villages as a place
for the public to meet their local Councillors and their local Police as well as learning how best to protect themselves against crime. They can also purchase, at very much reduced rates, a variety of personal, door, window and movement detector alarms which can also be viewed on the Products page. |
