The scheme - the first of its kind in Europe - is now launching its second phase. It will mean that in the event of a child being snatched anywhere in Sussex, text messages will be sent to the mobile phone of anyone who has registered - those who have registered e-mail addresses will also receive messages. Modern technology enable a text message authorised by the police to be sent to mobile telephones within a specific geographical location - this can be over a large area or down to within 100 metres of where a suspected abduction happened. A large number of mobile telephones within the police and the local authorities have already been registered. Plans are now being developed to roll it out to schools,Neighbourhood Watch and various other organisations as well as the general public. It is most important that the public fully participate in the scheme as with an average of one mobile phone per head of population everyone can do something positive to help save a child's life. Therefore please register now. Registration is simple and can be done on-line at www.childrescuealert.com or by sending a text message to 07786 208080. Enter the word ALERTS followed by a space and then your post code. You can register by clicking on the link below and completing the registration form that appears
